Ben Stokes, a star all-rounder, has decided not to compete in the next T20 World Cup 2024. Because he wants to allow himself time to get fit enough to play as an all-rounder. The ninth edition of the T20 World Cup will be place in the West Indies and the United States from June 2 to 29. England won the title at the final edition of the premier tournament in Australia in 2022. This year, they hope to become the first team to win three T20 World Cup titles. However, they will be without England’s red-ball skipper Stokes.

Prior to the forthcoming England Test summer, Stokes hopes to get back into bowling shape

The legendary cricket player had earlier chosen to withdraw from the IPL in progress in order to recover in time to play as an all-rounder.

“I’m working hard and focusing on building my bowling fitness back up to fulfill a full role as an all-rounder in all formats of cricket. Opting out of the IPL and the World Cup will hopefully be a sacrifice that allows me to be the all-rounder I want to be for the foreseeable future. ” Stokes said in an interview with the ECB.

“The recent Test tour of India highlighted how far behind. I was from a bowling point of view after my knee surgery and nine months without bowling. I’m looking forward to playing for Durham in the County Championship before the start of our Test summer. I wish Jos, Motty, and all the team the best of luck in defending our title,” he added.

The Three Lions will play a four-match Twenty20 International series against Pakistan at home in May as a warm-up for the big event. Jos Buttler and his colleagues have been selected for the T20 World Cup. Joining Australia, Oman, Namibia, and Scotland—all bitter rivals—in Group B. On June 4, England’s campaign against their neighbors Scotland kicks off in Bridgetown, Barbados. On June 8, the high-stakes game against the Australians will take place at the same location.
