Irfan Pathan urges BCCI to stop obsessing over Hardik Pandya. “What I feel about Hardik Pandya is that Indian cricket needs to make it clear that they should not give him that much priority as they have given him so far. ” Pathan said.
The BCCI led by former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan, has come out and asked them to put the needs of the Indian team ahead of their fixation with star all-rounder Hardik Pandya. The conversation started after a number of commentators had debated the best lineup for the Indian team in the forthcoming T20 World Cup 2024.
Pathan thought back to Pandya’s recent underperformance for India and suggested that the board should take Hardik’s recent impact into account before making a decision.
“I believe that since we still haven’t won the World Cup. Indian cricket needs to make it clear that they shouldn’t give Hardik Pandya the same amount of priority that they have up until now. Pathan stated on Star Sports Press Room Show that. “You need to make that kind of an impact at the international level if you think you are a primary all-rounder.”

Furthermore, Irfan Pathan stated that Hardik Pandya should play a full year and cannot choose between formats. He believes that if Indian cricket continues to prioritize individuals, they will continue to lose major ICC tournaments. The former all-rounder used Australia as an example, citing their preference for team play, which has helped them win major tournaments.
“First and foremost, he needs to play all year. He can’t pick and choose. Indian cricket must stop doing that. Stop giving individual preferences; doing so will prevent you from winning major tournaments. For many years, Australia has preferred team games. Making everybody a superstar. There is no single superstar on the squad; everyone is a superstar. “If you don’t do that, you won’t win major tournaments,” Pathan concluded.
