Jay Shah provides major update on Mohammed Shami’s recovery. Mohammed Shami had ankle surgery in London recently.

Mohammed Shami, a star Indian fast bowler, recently underwent successful surgery in London for an ankle injury that had trouble him throughout the ODI World Cup 2023. As a result, the speedster has been ruled out of the upcoming IPL 2024. As well as the crucial T20 World Cup 2024, which will take place in the West Indies and the United States beginning June 1.

Recently, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah provide an update on Shami’s surgery, revealing that the fast bowler has returned to India. Shah also provide a tentative date for Shami’s return, stating that the 33-year-old will most likely play in the home series against Bangladesh. Moreover, Bangladesh will travel to India for two Tests and three T20Is in September.

“Shami’s surgery is completed, and he is back in India. “Shami’s return is likely for the home series against Bangladesh,” Shah told the Hindustan Times.

Shami was in imperious form in the ODI World Cup 2023

After replacing the injured Hardik Pandya in the match against New Zealand. The Uttar Pradesh-born cricketer took a fifer in his first match of the tournament. Sparking a wicket-taking spree that propelled him to the top of the tournament’s wicket-takers list.

Shami finished the tournament with 24 wickets in seven innings. An average of 10.7, an economy of 5.26, and three fifers. His best bowling figures of the tournament came in the semi-final against New Zealand. Where his 7/57 helpe India win by 70 runs and advance to the final.

KL Rahul begins rehab at NCA

Meanwhile, wicketkeeper KL Rahul has begun his rehabilitation at the NCA in Bengaluru after missing the England series due to right quadriceps pain. In the first game of the series in Hyderabad, the 31-year-old score 86 and 22 as India lost by 28 runs.

“KL Rahul needed an injection; he has begun rehab and is at the NCA,” Shah explained. Rahul is expected to return to the field in IPL 2024, leading the Lucknow Super Giants in the upcoming season.
