German Cup: Union Berlin advanced to the semifinals after defeating St. Pauli.
Union Berlin qualified for the German Holder knockout rounds for the primary time in 21 a long time much appreciated to two cautious botches in a 2-1 triumph over second-division St. Pauli on Tuesday. With Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund both knocked out in the first round, the German Cup this year provides an opportunity for smaller clubs to capture a trophy. Leipzig meets Hannover in a quarterfinal match on Wednesday, while Freiburg travels to Bochum and Hamburg plays Karlsruhe.
