IND vs SA 2021: Aakash Chopra has highlighted that contradictory statements coming from the BCCI

IND vs SA 2021: Aakash Chopra has stated that the BCCI and Virat Kohli’s conflicting statements are damaging Indian cricket.

Sourav Ganguly, the BCCI president, said he and the selectors spoke to Kohli personally. And asked him not to relinquish the T20I captaincy. There were even rumors that the Indian Test skipper wanted to forgo the ODI series. Against South Africa and also that he and Rohit Sharma had a falling out.

At contrast, Virat Kohli said in a press conference yesterday that no one had asked him not to step down as T20I captain. He also denied ever requesting a break during the ODI series against South Africa and ruled out any potential conflicts with the new limited-overs skipper.

“The question is not who is telling the truth and who is lying, who is right and who is wrong. The question is why this is happening because it is not about you and me, it’s not about him or the other guy, the fact is that the loser is actually Indian cricket.” He said

“I was slightly surprised. I was reading a line that truth can be stranger than fiction, that’s exactly how it has happened. Virat Kohli said he never asked for leave, the news had come that he had asked for leave. Even before Rohit Sharma was named the captain. Thus, I mean this is a communication breakdown. Who is doing this and why is somebody doing this?” Chopra elaborated

IND vs SA 2021: Virat Kohli’s plea for a sabbatical had nothing to do with Rohit Sharma being handed the limited-overs reins. According to BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal, and was made before the decision.
