Eoin Morgan says “Vast improvements from two days ago” in the IPL 2021

As such, Eoin Morgan, the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), praised his colleagues for a much-improved showing against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Shubman Gill spearheaded KKR’s run chase from one end after the team had lost Venkatesh Iyer and Rahul Tripathi for a low price. Before a late blitz from Dinesh Karthik (18 off 12) helped KKR get over the line with two balls to spare, Gill (57) and Nitish Rana (25) scored significant runs.

Eoin Morgan admitted that the pitch was challenging at the conclusion of the post-match award ceremony, but that the players adapted admirably.

“Yes, the chase was tricky. I thought it was sluggish if anything. The wicket is one thing but you need to adapt to conditions – bowl well, field well. We did that well, a vast improvement from two days ago.”

“We didn’t know it wouldn’t be played in India, and we have done well in the conditions and adapted well,” he added.

The win puts Kolkata Knight Riders in fourth place in the points table with 12 points from 13 games.

Shakib Al Hasan

KKR used ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan in the playing XI against Hyderabad because Andrew Russell was out due to injury. With the ball, the Bangladeshi batsman made an immediate effect, limiting SRH to 115 runs.

Eoin Morgan lavished admiration on Shakib, stating that having an experienced campaigner like him in the side is a luxury.

“To have the strength and depth to call upon an experienced campaigner like him is a luxury. He’s had a huge impact today,” Morgan added.
