According to the BCCI, there is no pressure to postpone IPL rights. A top BCCI official has stated that the IPL media rights could be release soon; most likely within a week, and has blamed the delay to procedural concerns. The BCCI has also refuted suggestions that the ongoing delay is due to host broadcaster Star exerting pressure. According to the BCCI, there is no pressure to postpone IPL rights. The board functionary further claimed that the existing broadcaster; whose five-year contract expires after the IPL in 2022, has no objections to the tender being launch immediately. The BCCI had previously announce that the tender for the IPL media rights would be release in October. Although the announcement was make five months ago, the tender has yet to be issued.
