Bangladesh, the World Cup’s debutants, put up a fight in parts. Five batters had a score of 17 or higher. Despite their brave efforts to form partnerships, five more batsmen were sent for ducks as wickets dropped in clusters. Matthews made an incision in the first over of the chase, taking out Shamima Sultana with five balls. The Windies allrounder had set starter Sharmin Akhter pop a dolly to first slip; by the conclusion of her opening stint and Bangladesh’s powerplay.

Fargana Hoque and Nigar Sultana formed a brief collaboration worth only $30, yet it was enough to restore Bangladesh’s aspirations. That’s when Fletcher came up and got rid of Bangladesh’s reliable middle-order, dismissing Hoque; Rumana Ahmed, and Ritu Moni all in six deliveries for the same score of 60.

Sultana and Salma Khatun then made a comeback, scoring 25 runs slowly but steadily to keep Bangladesh in contention.

In search of a breakthrough, Taylor reintroduced Matthews into the attack, and the offspinner delivered two wickets in a wicket-maiden over – Sultana adjudged LBW with a confident and good use of DRS, and Fahima Khatun bowled through the gate. Their gutsy 25-run stand, Nahida and Salma put their heads down, took some risks, got a life each, and led Bangladesh past the 100-run milestone.

In the next overs, Taylor stepped up for the West Indies, getting both Salma and Jahanara Alam to lob straightforward catches to midwicket. Fariha Trisna also preserves the final over for herself, where Bangladesh needs eight runs but Fariha Trisna lash one past the line, getting an under edge onto her stumps, much to the relief of West Indies captain Chris Gayle.

Prior within the day, spinners Nahida and Salma sponsored up the captain’s choice by taking 2 for 23 each to limit West Indies to a scanty add up to. In spite of losing Dottin to Jahanara Alam early within the innings, West Indies had made a solid begin and were 34/1 at the conclusion of powerplay. In her ensuing overs, left-armer Nahida rejected both Matthews and Stafanie Taylor, coming about in a collapse. To form things more awful, Rashada Williams was caught at cover by Khatun after investing a few time on the wicket, taking off the group reeling at 48 for 4 at the begin of the 16th over.

Shemaine Campbelle, who led the team with an undefeated 53, kept Bangladesh at bay for a short; time in her short partnership with Chedean Nation, where their scoring rate reduced to roughly one per over. Fargana Hoque’s powerful hit terminated Nation’s tenure at the crease, precipitating another collapse; that saw the Windies fall to 70 for 7 in the 36th over. After a brief period of resistance from Fletcher and Campbelle; West Indies’ score reached triple digits on their way to a 32-run stand. Campbelle also added 36 runs for the ninth wicket with Karishma Ramharack; helping West Indies to a solid 140/9 while also completing her second half-century of the tournament.
