Ramiz Raja says “I can tell you how to get rid of Rohit Sharma right now” ahead of T20 WC 2021

Before the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ramiz Raja shared the details of his conversation with skipper Babar Azam. Raja and Babar discussed their plans for India, particularly Rohit Sharma, the team’s opener.

India and Pakistan faced battle in the first match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Pakistan got off to a fairytale start when Shaheen Shah Afridi dismissed Rohit Sharma in the first over. PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja explained how he and Babar Azam plotted Sharma’s expulsion during an appearance on the BBC podcast.

“Babar Azam was here with the Chief Selector before leaving for the World Cup and I asked him what are your plans against India,” Ramiz Raja recalled.

“I can tell you how to get rid of Rohit Sharma right now and Babar was intrigued,” the PCB Chairman added. “I said get Shaheen Afridi bowling at 100mph, get a man at short-leg and a 45. Just bowl that inswinging yorker at 100mph and do not give him a single and keep him on strike. You will get him out.” he added

The first ball Rohit Sharma faced cost him his wicket. Soon after, KL Rahul, Rohit’s opening partner, was bowled out by Shaheen Shah Afridi. Thanks to Virat Kohli’s fifty, India crossed the 150-run barrier. Pakistan, on the other hand, won by ten wickets.

Babar Azam wanted to use Cricviz, a prominent cricket analytics program, to plan his ideas for the match against India, according to Ramiz Raja. The PCB Chairman, on the other hand, requested that he plan in a different way.
