However, Stephen Fleming, the head coach of the Chennai Super Kings, lauded veteran all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, adding that his superb bowling at the death in the UAE leg of the IPL 2021 has impressed the team management.
Bravo, according to Fleming, made a champion-like comeback in the second half to give Sam Curran a run for his money for the all-rounder berth in the team.
MS Dhoni
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings beat Sunrisers Hyderabad to become the first side to qualify for the IPL 2021 playoffs. Following MS Dhoni’s decision to bowl first on a sluggish surface, the bowlers, led by Josh Hazlewood (3/24) and Dwayne Bravo (2/17), limited SRH to 134 for seven. The three-time defending champions were defeated by six wickets after scoring 139 for four.
“Well, some good competition for that place for Sam. Sam was excellent for us in the first half and Bravo has come back now like the champion he is. Some good competition around that all-rounder spot. And it’s ideally what you want, two really good players competing and getting the best out of each other,” Chennai head coach Stephen Fleming said
“We are really impressed with how Bravo has responded to the challenge, he is back to his best. His bowling at the death has been outstanding,” he added.
“Really proud of how we finished, I think we won the last four games. In the first half of the tournament number of things went wrong, and confidence was low but the way we finished gave us confidence. Even if it was a bad year we were one good win to making to the SF,” Fleming highlighted while talking about CSK’s last season.
