Therefore, In the ongoing 14th edition of the Indian Premier League, the win over Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium gave Eoin Morgan’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) breathing space above the mid-table logjam (IPL).
Eoin Morgan, the KKR captain, praised his team’s methodical approach in their three-wicket victory over DC.
“ It is tough playing two games in three days. But I was delighted to get a couple of points. Winning toss and fielding is not an easy thing to do. Guys were more calculated today, and it came off,” Morgan told the broadcasters at the post-match press conference.
“When the outfield is slow, if you are cagey it can come back to hurt you,” he added
Morgan also downplayed the heated discussion between himself, Tim Southee, and Ravichandran Ashwin when the latter’s wicket fell.
“Both sides played the game hard. On a hot day, things can boil over. Thankfully, it didn’t. We all played in the right spirit. And it’s a tough contest against Delhi Capitals,” said Morgan.
The KKR captain credited coach Brendon McCullum for the team’s revival in the IPL’s second leg.
“Full credit has to go to our coach, Brendon McCullum. It’s his ethos, his mindset, and the boys have bought into that,” added Morgan.
Rishabh Pant led the Capitals with patient 39-run innings, while Steve Smith, who replaced Prithvi Shaw, also added 39 runs.

For KKR, Lockie Ferguson, Sunil Narine, and Venkatesh Iyer each took two wickets.
After set batsman Shubhman Gill was out for 30, Nitish Rana led the chase with a brief but impactful 36-run effort. Sunil Narine scored 21 runs in ten balls.
