Hardik Pandya, the newly anointed MI captain, is having a difficult time on the pitch. After being booed yet again by the Hyderabad fans during MI’s second game of the season. While speaking with commentator Ian Bishop before the toss. Pandya greeted with thunderous ‘boos’ from the fans. Who openly voiced their dissatisfaction at seeing him skipper the Mumbai Indians.
The 30-year-old also faced the wrath of the crowd during Mumbai’s season-opening game. Against his former team, the Gujarat Titans (GT), in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. Notably, Pandya, the GT captain, acquired by the MI before of the IPL 2024 through a player deal. Which did not sit well with Gujarat fans.
After bringing him on board, MI even appointed the all-rounder as the captain of the time replacing their five-time winning skipper Rohit Sharma. Which irked MI fans who felt that Rohit hadn’t been treated right by the franchise. The entire saga resulted in widespread trolling of Pandya over social media and now in the ground with fans of both teams going after him.

Pandya had a forgettable outing in his first game as MI captain
To make matters worse, Pandya had a forgettable debut as Mumbai’s captain, leaking 30 runs from three overs with the ball. He later failed to score 19 runs in the final over to help his team cross the line, being remove for 11 (4). Furthermore, the all-rounder chastised for his unusual decision to take the new ball before their pace spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah.
However, he swiftly recognized his mistake and brought in Bumrah in the fourth over, who delivered the first strike of the match, dismissing Wriddhiman Saha. The speedster concluded the match with 3/14 in four overs and helped limit GT to 168/6 in their stipulated 20 overs.
Meanwhile, social media was inundated with memes about Hardik Pandya after the MI captain had another torrid day in the second game, with SRH hitters blasting MI bowlers all over the field.
