South African batsman Theunis de Bruyn has announced his retirement from international cricket at the age of 30. De Bruyn believes that his decision to withdraw from international cricket is motivated by a desire to focus on the next stage of his career. The 30-year-old earned his South African international debut in 2017.
De Bruyn has played 13 Tests and two Twenty20 Internationals for South Africa since his debut. The 30-year-old has a Test century to his name, which he hit against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 2018. In the two T20 internationals he participated, de Bruyn scored 26 runs in two matches.
He also played for Pretoria Caps in the most recent SA20 season. The squad won the tournament tables but were defeated in the final match against Sunrisers Eastern Cape. After the event, de Bruyn concluded the season with 238 runs in 12 games.

After retiring, the 30-year-old reminisced on his career and the memories he cherishes the most. De Bruyn discussed his international career in a statement made by his home team, Titans.
“I’ve had the privilege of representing my country at the highest level of cricket, and it has been the proudest moment of my career; I’ve lived a childhood dream, shared dressing rooms with my heroes, and played cricket at some of the world’s most iconic venues, and I can’t thank you enough for the opportunities I’ve had through this game.”
“Thinking back on all I’ve accomplished, it’s time to bid farewell to international cricket and go on to the next chapter. I’m eager for what the future holds and look forward to pursuing more aspirations and goals in life.”
