Yadav injured in the Royal London One-Day Cup match at Radlett on August 21 and returned to India for rehabilitation. He will be unavailable for Middlesex’s final two county championship matches this month. Against Leicestershire and Worcestershire, the club announced in an official release.

“Middlesex Cricket regrets to inform you that due to an ongoing injury to his quad muscle. Umesh Yadav will not be returning to London to finish the season. The Club and will play no further part in Middlesex’s County Championship run in,” the club said on its website.

“Yadav’s injury occurred during Middlesex’s final home Royal London Cup match of the season against Gloucestershire at Radlett (on August 21), forcing the right-arm paceman to leave the field of play and ruling out the Club’s final Group A match away to Sussex in Hove.” The quadriceps muscles are a group of muscles located at the front of the thigh.

The 34-year-old Yadav, who has 158 Test wickets and 106 ODI scalps, was due to return to London on Saturday ahead of next week’s trip to Leicester, but Middlesex said it understands the situation.

“Following the injury, the right-arm quick returned to India for an evaluation with the BCCI’s medical team, where he began treatment and rehabilitation on the injury while also beginning a return to bowling program under the watchful eye of the Indian national medical team.”

“…we have been informed that his injury remains a source of concern and that he has not recovered sufficiently to handle the workload required in a four-day game, so he will not be returning to the Club.” Yadav signed with Middlesex in July to play in both the First-Class and List-A formats.
