Dinesh Karthik Drops Absolute Sitter In RR vs RCB IPL 2022 Qualifier 2 To Give Jos Buttler A Huge Reprieve

Dinesh Karthik Drops Absolute Sitter In RR vs RCB IPL 2022 Qualifier 2 To Give Jos Buttler A Huge Reprieve. Dinesh Karthik dropped a simple catch while Jos Buttler was batting on 66.

One of the most commonly used proverbs in the game of cricket is “Catches win matches.” And that could have been the case when a high-flying Jos Buttler edged a Harshal Patel delivery in the 11th over of Rajasthan Royals’ chase, leaving Royal Challengers Bangalore wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik with a simple catch. However, with Buttler batting on 66 at the time, Karthik failed to take the required catch. The Rajasthan Royals star went on to hit an unbeaten 106, propelling his team to their first IPL final since 2008. It was a case of what could have been for Dinesh Karthik and RCB.

In Karthik’s defense, RR were well on their way to chasing the target, and Buttler’s wicket may not have mattered in the grand scheme of things.

On the other hand, if Karthik had taken the catch, RR might have crumbled and suffered a batting collapse.

But the fact that Karthik dropped such a simple catch was perplexing.

RR won the toss and chose to field in the match.

RCB lost Virat Kohli yet again, but Faf du Plessis and Rajat Patidar kept the ship afloat. Patidar finished with 58 runs off 42 balls. Glenn Maxwell hit 24 off 13 balls but was caught by Trent Boult before he could do much damage.

RCB fell apart in the final five overs, with RR pacers Obed McCoy and Prasidh Krishna putting pressure on the opposition.

RR reduced the target in front of them to mince meat. Before Buttler took over, Yashasvi Jaiswal got the team off to a quick start. The Englishman hit his fourth century in IPL 2022, assisting RR in chasing down the target with seven wickets in hand and 11 balls to spare.
