IPL 2022: Shimron Hetmyer Leaves Rajasthan Royals Camp to travel back to Guyana.

The Rajasthan Royals announced on Sunday that West Indies batter Shimron Hetmyer has left the team camp in Mumbai to return to Guyana to give birth to his first child. The team stated that the left-handed batter will return soon. This season, the batter has been in fantastic form for the team, providing a much-needed boost lower in the order.

Rajasthan shared a video on Twitter Shimron Hetmyer Leaves RR Camp showing hugging his teammates.

“Shimron Hetmyer has returned to Guyana early this morning for the impending birth of his first child, but he’ll be back soon,” RR captioned the photo.

Hetmyer said in the video, “Hettie here!” Babies are only born once in a lifetime, and this will be my first. My belongings are still in the room. I’m only leaving because of an unexpected emergency. Don’t forget about me; I’ll see you soon.”

Hetmyer has scored 291 runs at an average of 72.75 in 11 IPL 2022 matches. This season, his best score is 59 not out.

On Saturday at the Wankhede Stadium, Hetmyer hit an unbeaten 31 off 16 balls to help Rajasthan chase down 190 against Punjab Kings.

Rajasthan Royals are currently third in the IPL points table with 14 points, and they will face Delhi Capitals on Wednesday at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy.
