Australia is undefeatable in the ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup. They put forth another clinical performance on Tuesday, knocking down South Africa’s 271-run total with five wickets and 28 balls to spare. Meg Lanning, who was three runs shy of a century against India, smashed an unbroken 135 runs to lead her team to win. Australia remained the tournament’s only unbeaten team with this victory. The Meg Lanning-led team was also the most successful while chasing. They’ve won 18 times when pursuing since 2018. They smashed Rahul Dravid’s and India’s record of 17 consecutive wins set in 2005-06.
England’s women’s team won 15 games in 2008-09, tying them for third place with New Zealand’s women’s team, who have won the same number of games while chasing in 2015-17. The mighty West Indies men’s squad of the 1980s is next, with 14 victories between 1985 and 1986.
Australia took advantage of the South African fielders’ seven dropped catches, with Meg Lanning being the main beneficiary. After being called into bat, South Africa scored 271 for 5 in their allotted 50 overs, thanks tohalf-centuries from Laura Wolvaardt (90) and skipper Sune Luus (52).

The Proteas innings was adjusted off by Marizanne Kapp (21 balls 30) and Chloe Tryon (9 balls 17). Megan Schutt, Jess Jonassen, Ashleigh Gardner, Annabel Sutherland, and Alana Lord each took a wicket for Australia. Australia’s openers, Rachel Haynes (17) and Alyss Healy (5), were both effortlessly rejected whereas seeking after.
But when captain Lanning let go of the stay, he not as it were included significant associations, but he too scored well. Lanning included 60 runs for the third wicket with Beth Mooney (21), 93 runs for the fourth wicket with Tahila McGrath (32) and 43 runs for the fifth wicket with Ashleigh Gardner (22) some time recently scoring an unbeaten 31 runs for the 6th wicket with Annabel Sutherland (22 not out).
