Hardik Pandya will not play in the Ranji Trophy this year.
Hardik Pandya, an all-rounder, will miss the Ranji Trophy, which begins on February 10; in order to focus on his India comeback in white-ball cricket. On Monday, Kedar Devdhar selected captain of the Baroda team. Hardik Pandya will not play in the Ranji Trophy this year.
Vishnu Solanki chosen Devdhar’s deputy as the Baroda Cricket Association; announced a 20-member roster ahead of the opening phase of the competition. The squad list, however, does not include Hardik. Hardik has remained on the sidelines since since the T20 World Cup last year; leaving himself unavailable for national selection owing to back ailment and further rehabilitation.

The 28-year-old; who are chastise for not bowling during India’s poor T20 World Cup performance; hasn’t played red ball cricket since December 2018 and has frequently stated that ailments have hampered his chances in the game’s longest format. Hardik is schedule to return to competitive cricket in the Indian Premier League; where he will lead the CVC-owned Ahmedabad franchise for the first time as a full-time captain.

Last week, BCCI President Saurav Ganguly told PTI that the all-rounder would likely play in the Ranji Trophy. Hardik wounded and given time off to fully rehabilitate so that he may continue; to serve Indian cricket for many years. I accept that I will first see him play in the Ranji Trophy. “I expect him to bowl a few more overs and his physical make-up will get more grounded,” Ganguly said.
Krunal Pandya, Hardik’s brother, has too been chosen within the group. The occasion, which delayed due to a third wave of ailments over the country; set to start on January 13 but put off due to the COVID-19 scourge.
