Bavuma told the media following the team’s ODI whitewash; of India that it is still early days for him as captain. He was appointed in March of last year.
“I don’t believe it’s simple” (captaining the team). You’ll have to deal with a variety of different dynamics. “The most important thing for me is to maintain cricket at the forefront; of the lads’ minds,” Bavuma said on Sunday.
“I hate to bring it up, but the team, the players; and some members of management have had a difficult time.”

“It means a lot as a player,” Bavuma said after scoring a century; in the series’ first match and leading from the front. It’s even greater knowing that I was a part of the winning team.
“You will always be assessed on your record, and beating an Indian team; convincingly speaks volumes about my captaincy.” However, from a leadership standpoint, it is still early. “I’ll take the positives,” the little right-handed batter said, “but I’ll try not to get ahead of myself.”
