Live updates on the 2022 Assembly Elections: On Thursday, the Congress announced; its second list of 41 candidates for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. There are 16 ladies among them. The party’s first list of 125 candidates, released last week, included 40 percent women candidates, with 50 nominated.

Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab; is slated to arrive in Chandigarh on Thursday for a two-day visit. His visit comes only days after the party named Bhagwant Mann; as its chief ministerial candidate in the Punjab Assembly elections.

At 3 p.m. today, the party will declare the constituency from which Mann will run in the elections (Thursday).

In the mean time, BJP head JP Nadda pronounced on Wednesday that his party; together with its accomplices Apna Dal and Nishad Party, will challenge all 403 seats in Uttar Pradesh. The choice was made taking after a assembly of the BJP Central Official Committee in Delhi; which included Union Priests Amit Shah, Anurag Thakur, UP Chief Serve Yogi Adityanth, Nadda, and other pioneers.

According to Nadda, the BJP would fight the UP elections with the Apna Dal and the Nishad Party.

Uneasy about the recent departure of prominent OBC leaders; the BJP brought in its allies Apna Dal and also Nirbal Indian Shoshit Hamara Aam Dal (Nishad party); both of which represent backward communities, on Wednesday to announce a joint fight; in Uttar Pradesh and also to highlight the initiatives taken by the party governments; at the Centre and in the state for the communities.

BJP president J P Nadda, flanked by Apna Dal leader and Union Minister Anupriya Patel; and Nishad party leader Sanjay Nishad, said the BJP and also the two parties would fight together for the 403 seats.
The formula for seat distribution, however, was not clarified by the leaders.

The late CDS Bipin Rawat’s brother has joined the BJP and may seek for governor of Uttarakhand.


Colonel Vijay Rawat (retd), the younger brother of Chief of the Resistance Staff Common Bipin Rawat; who was murdered in a chopper accident last month; joined the BJP on Wednesday in Delhi ahead of the Uttarakhand Gathering.

He’ll most likely compete in the state championships.
When Rawat joined the BJP, he was greeted by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami; BJP national common secretary Dushyant Gautam, and Uttarakhand BJP president Madan Kaushik.
