Due to Obed McCoy’s injury, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced. That all-rounder Jason Holder has been named to the West Indies 15-man squad for the remainder of the 2021 T20 World Cup.

Holder was picked as one of the West Indies’ reserve players prior to the event. Following a formal request from the team, the ICC Event Technical Committee confirmed his inclusion in the main squad.

During West Indies’ first encounter against England, McCoy, a 24-year-old left-arm bowler, injured his right leg.

The holder is expected to participate in the Windies’ next match on Friday against Bangladesh.

“Jason Holder has been in the UAE for a while now and will fit quite well into the team unit. He is an experienced and knowledgeable cricketer. Who we know will be eager and excited to grab the opportunity,” he said

“McCoy did really well in the T20Is earlier this year and adapted well in the opening match against England. He was a key member of the bowling unit and it’s unfortunate he won’t be able to take any further part in the tournament. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the field ready to go again in the near future.” he added

If they want to go to the semi-finals, they must win their remaining three games and pray for other outcomes to go their way.

Their batting has been their most serious flaw, as they have failed to put up a competitive total in both of their encounters.

They were bowled out for 55 in the first match against England, which was a horrific showing. They showed considerable improvement against South Africa, but their 143-run total was insufficient, as the Proteas chased down the mark with more than an over to spare.

In their remaining matches, the West Indies will face Bangladesh, Australia, and Sri Lanka.
