When Pakistan takes on India in the T20 World Cup opener in Dubai later this month. Former cricketer Javed Miandad has urged them to “perform without fear and pressure.”
Miandad stated that everyone in Babar Azam’s Pakistan side will have to contribute in order to defeat Virat Kohli’s Team India. Who will be one of the strong favorites to win the event for the second time.
“The match against India will be crucial to getting momentum in the tournament. They are a strong side and have several top players. But if we can play without fear and pressure and everyone does his bit we can beat them,” Miandad said.
“T20 format is one where people think that one or two players can win you matches but I look at it this way that in this format everyone needs to contribute in some way or the other for a team to be a winning outfit,” Miandad added
The former Pakistan captain believes that if the team works together, they may do well in the event.
“In this format, even small innings of 20 or a crucial catch or run-out or a good over can win you matches so everyone has to put in his bit. This format is about a collective effort from the team,” he signed off.
T20 World Cup
All eyes will be on the mega-match in Dubai, as Pakistan will attempt to win their first World Cup match against India in white-ball cricket. In the T20 World Cup, Pakistan and India have played five times, with India winning four games and one game ending in a draw.
In Group 2, Pakistan is pitted against India, Afghanistan, New Zealand, and two qualifiers. Pakistan’s recent preparations for the tournament have been significantly hampered by the cancellation of limited-overs tours to the country by New Zealand and England due to security concerns.
