With three league games remaining, Karachi, captained by Pakistan captain Babar Azam; were eliminated from the playoff chase after finishing on 190-8, their eighth loss in a row. With eight points from seven games, Islamabad moved up to third place; behind table-toppers Multan Sultans (12 points) and Lahore Qalandars (10 points).

Shadab Khan, who had to leave the field with a strain groin while fielding in only the second; over of Karachi’s run chase, was greatly missed by Islamabad. Asif step into his skipper’s shoes and contribute 2-27; with a few more possible if Islamabad had held on to their catches.
