AB de Villiers, the talismanic Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) hitter, has stated that he would like to win the IPL championship at least once before retiring from cricket.
The South African has been a key member of the RCB team for a decade but has yet to win a trophy.
However, De Villiers is widely considered as one of the best batters in tournament history, having delivered numerous match-winning performances for his team in the IPL.
“We all want trophies. There’s no question about that. I would love to finish with a trophy at some stage. If that doesn’t happen, that’s not the only ultimate goal. he said
“I will never say we don’t want to win a trophy. That is what we want to do. But there are more important things in life. We want to leave an impact on the lives, the way people play cricket, the way they think about cricket, and the way they think about life in general.” he added
AB de Villiers has scored 302 runs at an average of 33.55 in 14 IPL 2021 matches, including two fifties. His impact on RCB could be crucial in their forthcoming matches.
Former Indian batsman Aakash Chopra believes that AB de Villiers has demonstrated that he is, after all, human.
De Villiers has built a name for himself by consistently outperforming his teammates when they are in difficulties, and he has won games on his own on several occasions.
Today at the Sharjah Cricket Ground, RCB will face KKR in the Eliminator. The winner of today’s match will compete in Qualifier 2 versus Delhi Capitals for a position in the final.
