Eoin Morgan praised his teammates after the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat the Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 86 runs. Effectively securing a playoff berth.
Shubman Gill and Venkatesh Iyer got the Knight Riders off to a flying start. When they were put in to bat first. Thus, They put on 79 runs for the first wicket, and with contributions from the middle order, KKR tallied 171 runs. Which proved to be too much for the Royals.
Eoin Morgan praised the KKR opener, stating that both of them have been a bright spot for the team.
“I don’t think it could have got better. Losing the toss and batting was difficult. The start we got was fantastic. Gill and Iyer have been our shining light. To get 170 we thought was in a commanding position. A really strong performance today. Having aggressive players coming in in the middle order helped us kick.” Morgan stated

Therefore, Early wickets by the KKR bowlers disrupted the Royals’ batting. RR were 35/7 at one point. Rajasthan was saved from humiliation by a late surge from Rahul Tewatia, but it was not enough to break the stalemate.
KKR, who have had a wonderful run in the UAE after a lackluster showing in the first leg of the IPL 2021, have been without ace all-rounder Andre Russell due to injury in a previous couple of games.
“We are taking it day by day [with Russell], so he’s working incredibly hard,” Eoin Morgan added.
Therefore, The purple brigade has benefited from the inclusion of Shakib Al Hasan in lieu of Andre Russell in the last two games.
However, Kolkata got off to a good start thanks to the Bangladesh all-rounder, who dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first over. In the lone, over he bowled, he returned with statistics of 1/1.
