Sanju Samson on Rahul Tewatia’s knock- “Sharjah is his favorite ground” in the IPL 2021

After top-scoring for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Skipper Sanju Samson identified Sharjah as Rahul Tewatia’s favorite ground.

RR’s lone notable performance with the bat was Tewatia’s 44 off 36. As they lost by 86 runs in match 54 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. RR were bowled out for 85 in 16.1 overs while chasing a difficult mark of 172.

They were 35 for 7 after nine overs before Tewatia thrashed his bat around. Then restored some respectability to the RR total.

Tewatia struck five sixes in an over from Sheldon Cottrell as RR chased down a record score of 224 against Punjab Kings in Sharjah last season (PBKS).

“If somebody could have had a decent partnership with him, I think we would have had a close match at least. He was batting really well. He wanted someone else to be with him and have a good stand actually. We didn’t do that, which is why we ended up on the losing side.” Samson opined

RR lost four wickets in the first four overs of the chase, including Samson, who was dismissed for 1 by Shivam Mavi.

When asked about the team’s performance, Samson agreed that they need to do a lot more to win the IPL on a consistent basis.

“I think if you look at the whole season, we have gone through many challenges. We showed character though and am proud of the boys. Thus, We won some close games and lost some easy ones. We need to play a better standard of cricket. To win more games in this tournament,” Samson said, speaking after RR’s embarrassing defeat. he said
