IPL 2021: As such, Umran Malik, a young fast bowler from Jammu and Kashmir, has already made an impression in his first two IPL appearances. The 21-year-old, who is known for his sheer speed, has clocked some astounding times, including the fastest ball of the season (152.95 kmh).
Malik’s family in Jammu is really proud of him, and he is creating a lot of commotion with his speed. Thus, Umran Malik’s father, who works as a vegetable vendor, told India Today that his son’s debut on Sunday was a significant day for the entire family (October 3).
“It is not an ordinary achievement for us. We are from a poor family. I sell vegetables and fruits to make a living. Thus, My son has made me proud. Our joy knows no bounds. Even Lt Governor Sahib has congratulated us. I pray to almighty that my son continues to excel in his career,” Umran Malik’s father Abdul Malik said.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
However, Umran Malik picked up his first IPL wicket against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), finishing with stats of 1/21 from his four overs after returning with 0/27 from four overs against the Punjab Kings (PBKS). Though RCB wicket-keeper batsman KS Bharat was beaten by him, as he hurried him with his fast pace.
“My son got inclined to cricket when he was just 3 years old. He always dreamt of becoming a professional cricketer. We were so happy when he was picked up in the playing XI by Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday. We were glued to the TV and there were tears of joy in my and my wife’s eyes. My son has worked very hard. We always supported him. Thus, We hope that one day he plays for Team India,” said Abdul.
When the Sunrisers Hyderabad take on the Mumbai Indians in their final IPL 2021 game on October 8, Umran Malik will have one more chance to wow everyone.
