After defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by six wickets, MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were the first side to qualify for the IPL 2021 playoffs.
The Super Kings, by the way, have won nine of their 11 games this season, which is a big turnaround. Dhoni praised the players and support staff for sticking together and achieving the goals.
“It means a lot because the last time in the post-match presentation I had, I said we want to come back strong. You keep learning out of it, and that is what we have done this year even though we played the first half [of the season] earlier. Every credit must be given to the players and the support staff.” MS Dhoni said
Chennai finished sixth in the IPL 2020, missing out on the playoffs for the first time in the tournament’s history.
CSK, on the other hand, looked great in India right from the start of the season. They were second in the points standings before the IPL 2021 ended on May 4. MS Dhoni and Co have gone undefeated in the second phase. They winning four matches in a row to qualify for the playoffs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 134 runs in their first innings. The hitters appeared to be struggling to play their shots, but MS Dhoni praised his bowlers for perfectly altering their pace and length.
“It wasn’t a wicket where it was turning or stopping a lot. But there was a good bounce. Bowlers varied their pace and length very well… That is what I told them before the start of the game as well. The execution was there,” MS Dhoni added.
CSK got off to a brilliant start once again thanks to Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis, before Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni won the game with two balls to spare. While batting in the second half appeared to be simple, the Chennai captain confessed that the dew aided the batsmen.
