Moeen Ali returns from retirement to bolster England’s setup under Stokes. Moeen Ali last played a Test match on September 2, 2021, against India.
England all-rounder Moeen Ali has considered returning to the longest format of the game. The upcoming Ashes series that is scheduled to be played on English soil. Ali has also been included to the England Test squad for the first two Tests against Australia, which begin on June 16 at Edgbaston.
The 35-year-old has been named to the Test team in place of Jack Leach, who suffer a lower back stress fracture in the ODIs against Ireland and will miss the entire Ashes series. Given that Ali has announced his retirement from Test match cricket in 2021, this is surely welcome news for his admirers all across the world.

Then confirmed by England Cricket via their Official Twitter handle, who commented, “He’s back! “Mo, welcome back!”
Given that England will be attempting to reclaim the Ashes, which they lost to Australia in 2021-22. Ali’s participation in the squad might be a significant boost to their hopes. The senior England all-rounder has clearly been an asset for the England team in home conditions, as the superb all-rounder has posted remarkable figures in 64 matches for his national side in whites. With his aggressive batting style and devastating spin bowling, the premier all-rounder is possibly most suited.
Earlier this week, England men’s cricket managing director Rob Key claim. They had approached the great all-rounder earlier in the week and that Moeen is excited to return to Test cricket after allowing it some time to sink in. Key believes Ali’s deep knowledge and all-around qualities will be beneficial to England’s Ashes campaign.
Moeen will provide vital expertise to the team, having played 64 Test matches. In Test matches, the prolific all-rounder has scored 2914 runs and claimed 195 wickets. The England team will meet in Birmingham on June 12 before beginning series practice at Edgbaston on June 13.
