Pakistan’s star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup due to injury. The Pakistan Cricket Board’s medical advisory committee has advised Afridi to take 4-6 weeks off. The board said in a statement on Saturday. Shaheen Afridi will also be unavailable for Pakistan’s home series against England. “Following the latest scans and reports, the PCB Medical Advisory Committee. Independent specialists advised Afridi to take a 4-6 week break. This means Shaheen will miss the ACC T20 Asia Cup and the home series against England “According to the Pakistan board’s statement.

During the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle, Shaheen Afridi injury on his right knee ligament while fielding.
“I spoke with Shaheen, and he is understandably upset by the news,” PCB’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr Najeebullah Soomro, was quoted as saying.
The 22-year-old was named to Pakistan’s ODI squad for the current series in the Netherlands, but did not play in the first two games.
“Although he has made progress during his rehabilitation in Rotterdam,” Soomro said, “it is now clear that he will require more time and is likely to return to competitive cricket in October.”
Pakistan has not yet named a replacement for Shaheen Afridi in their Asia Cup squad.
Pakistan’s campaign against archrival India will begin on August 28 in Dubai.
