Women’s World Cup: Jhulan Goswami becomes the highest wicket-taker in history.
Jhulan Goswami, the veteran India bowler, reached yet another milestone in her remarkable 22-year-old career on Saturday, becoming the all-time leading wicket-taker in the ICC Women’s World Cup’s history. Goswami has eclipsed Australia’s Lynette Fullston, who took 39 wickets in a six-year career from 1982 to 1988.
With West Indies chasing a massive mark of 318 set by India, Goswami completed the feat by removing Anisa Mohammed in the 36th over of the innings.
As a result, Goswami is in first place, ahead of Fullston, Carole Hodges (37 wickets) and Claire Taylor (36) of England, and another Australian, Cathryn Fitzpatrick (33).
Since 2005, the 39-year-old right-arm fast bowler has competed in five Women’s Cricket World Cups.
Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur both scored hundreds to help India beat West Indies by 155 runs and get their World Cup campaign back on track.
