After a poor IPL 2022 campaign, CSK’s openers admit to making mistakes. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the CSK opener, managed only 368 runs in 14 games at an average of 26.28, which did not help the cause.
Chennai Super Kings openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway were open about their thoughts on how the season went, and they did not hold back in expressing their disappointment with their team’s performance. One of CSK’s major shortcomings this year was a lack of opening partnerships at the start of the tournament, as Gaikwad could only manage 368 runs in 14 games at an average of 26.28.
For the majority of the first half of the season, Robin Uthappa opened the innings in Conway’s absence, and the former scored only 230 runs. Conway came in late and made an immediate impact at the top of the order, but it was too late for CSK to get their campaign back on track.

After Poor IPL 2022 campaign: CSK must accept reality and move forward: Ruturaj Gaikwad
Ruturaj Gaikwad wasn’t afraid to admit that the players didn’t live up to expectations. He was optimistic about returning strong next year with the support of the massive CSK fan base, while his opening partner Conway also mentioned the season not going their way. The New Zealander felt the team did not perform well this year and promised a better response next year.
“Many people would say that we did not have good luck or that things did not go our way. I would be completely honest with them and tell them that we did not live up to our expectations. But, as I previously stated, we must accept the situation and move on. You (CSK supporters) have our backs. “We will come out of this year much stronger next year,” Gaikwad told News 18.
“We’re all aware that this wasn’t our year. That is something we can accept and move on from. We’ll be better next year. We didn’t play at our best this year because of a lack of effort or practice. “I’m sure things will be better next year,” Conway told CSK TV.
