Cummins on Karachi draw: In terms of strategy, I wouldn’t change much.
After a hard-fought tie in Karachi, Pat Cummins is choosing to see the positive side of things. On the last day, the visitors were unable to bowl Pakistan out, but they did create enough opportunities on a wicket that held up better than many thought. The Australia skipper believes that if a few opportunities had been taken, it may have been a “different scenario,” but he’s just delighted that the team appeared capable of taking up more than 10 wickets on that surface.
“It was a really excellent Test coordinate,” Cummins added. ” I adopt the optimistic perspective that each time we’ve given ourselves more than ten opportunities.” If we had taken any of those openings, the situation might have been different, and we’ll keep looking at it. With two spinners, I believed we bounced between techniques really well in such situations. When I walked off the field at the end of the day’s play recently and presently, I knew there wasn’t a methodology we hadn’t given a fair shot at.
“To be genuine, I do not think I’d alter as well much in terms of strategies.” Batting into day three permitted us the opportunity to truly go after them on day three; we perhaps did superior than we anticipated, but the wickets here are very incredible.
Steve Smith’s late-day drop of Abdullah’s Shafique and Usman Khawaja’s late-day drop of Mohammad Rizwan are the two squandered opportunities mentioned by Cummins. Cummins, on the other hand, is looking forward to the third Test, which will be held in Lahore.

“We gave ourselves a fantastic chance in this Test match, particularly after the first three innings. I was quite pleased with our team’s performance. We’re demonstrating our ability to adapt and play effectively in foreign environments; but going so close yet so much ahead of the game and not coming out with a result can feel like a squandered opportunity. The good news is that the score is 0-0. We didn’t lose any of our belongings. The following week, there will be another game. If you told me it was going to be 0-0 after two games; in these conditions at the start of the series, I’d take it.”
Cummins also stated that the team was recovering well after bowling 171.4 overs; in the scorching heat of Karachi, adding that they had anticipated a close series.
“We took a walk around and found that everyone is fine; there are no major injuries to be concerned about.” We understood it was a back-to-back 15-day tour. That is why, on the last day of the last Test, we took precautions. We know what we’ve agreed upon, so we’ll schedule everything for next week.

We have four days to recover, plus one extra day, we have a complete contingent and can bring in rapid bowlers if necessary. We all bowled between 25 and 35 overs, Starc, myself, and Greeny. There isn’t a lot of work to do. We’ll make sure the spinners (who have been bowled a lot more) are taken care of.”
