S Africa used Marizanne Kapp’s (5/45) best ODI bowling performance to restrict four-time winners England to 235 for nine; while Laura Wolvaardt (77 off 101 balls) held their innings together as they overcame a late scare to reach the goal with four balls to spare.
South African batsmen Sune Luus (36), Kapp (32) and Tazmin Brits (23) all contributed.
In her innings, Wolvaardt hit eight home runs.
Kapp batted brilliantly after her spectacular bowling performance, and also her 42-ball knock; which included three boundaries and one six, nearly got South Africa over the finish line.
Kapp got out after only 10 runs after being LBW to Anya Shrubsole (2/34).
England enjoyed a glimmer of hope thanks to the wicket, but it was not to be; as South Africa won thanks to Trisha Chetty (12 not out) and Shabnim Ismail (5 not out).
