Subhash Bhowmik, a previous India player and coach, kicked the bucket early Saturday morning after two weeks of diabetes and kidney treatment at a private clinic in Ekbalpur, South Kolkata. Bhowmik, known in Kolkata as ‘Bhombol da,’ was a successful football player and coach. In the 1970 Asian Games, he was a member of the Indian team that earned a bronze medal.
Subhash won 26 trophies in his club career, including 18 with Mohun Bagan. In six years at Mohun Bagan, Subhash scored 82 goals, including four hat-tricks.
