Rohit Sharma-led Team India successfully managed to white-wash New Zealand in the three-match T20I series

After winning the Kolkata match, the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team was able to sweep New Zealand in the three-match T20I series. India’s bowling and batting units worked together to win the dead rubber by a comfortable margin.

Axar Patel (3/9) bowled a web around the Kiwi hitters, plucking up wickets in short succession to put his team ahead in the game. Martin Guptill (51) attempted a counter-offensive, but he had little help from the other batters.

The match became absolutely one-sided after Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed the dashing Kiwi opener Guptill. New Zealand was eventually bowled out for 111 runs, losing by 73 runs.

With a series win against a superior squad, Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid’s tenure as captain and head coach got off to a tremendous start.

Team India’s victory pleased fans, who congratulated the Indian skipper and the new support staff. Some have even asked the BCCI to pass over Virat Kohli’s ODI captaincy to Rohit Sharma.

Rohit Sharma’s success and form would surely put pressure on selectors and Virat Kohli to give him the ODI captaincy. In 2023, India will host the next ODI World Cup. As a result, fans want Rohit Sharma to take over as ODI captain from Virat Kohli, believing that he is a better white-ball leader.
