Dwayne Bravo, the West Indies’ all-rounder, revealed on Friday that he will retire from international cricket at the end of the present T20 World Cup 2021 in the United Arab Emirates, after the Caribbean team lost three of their four matches and failed to qualify for the semifinals.
In 2019, the Trinidadian came out of retirement to help the team prepare for the T20 World Cup. Bravo has played 90 T20Is and took over 500 wickets in total T20 cricket. He was a member of two T20 World Cup-winning teams.
“I think the time has come. I’ve had a very good career. To represent the West Indies for 18 years, had some ups and downs, but as I look back at it I’m very grateful to represent the region and the Caribbean people for so long,” the 38-year-old said.

“To win three ICC trophies, two with my captain [Daren Sammy] on the left here. One thing I am proud about is that the era of cricketers we had we were able to make a name for ourselves on the global stage and not only do that but have silverware to show for it,” Bravo added.
Bravo, in addition to his smart medium-pace bowling, played 40 Tests, 164 ODIs, and 90 T20Is and finished countless matches in style as a powerful middle-order batsman, winning tremendous affection and respect from fans all over the cricketing world.
His talent is evident in the manner he prevents opponents from scoring runs in death overs. He’ll most likely continue to play franchise cricket for a few more seasons.
