Indian opener KL Rahul- “I want to create history and win a World Cup for my country” in the T20 World Cup 2021

KL Rahul, the star Indian opener who is presently competing in the T20 World Cup 2021, has voiced his wish for his country to win an ICC World Cup. India’s 2011 World Cup victory encouraged the 29-year-old to aspire to capture significant silverware for his country.

“Growing up, I watched the 2011 World Cup at home, that’s when we won the World Cup and things changed for me. From that day on, I was like, this is what I want to do. I want to win a World Cup for my country, win one or two or three and be part of the world cup and create history.” he said

During the ODI World Cup 2019, KL Rahul’s side fell short in the penultimate semi-final against New Zealand in route to winning his first cricket World Cup. Given India’s slim odds of qualifying for the knockout stages of the T20 World Cup in 2021, the right-hander would most likely have to wait a little longer.

On his 33rd birthday, Kohli will lead India against Scotland in their fourth match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021. The Men in Blue will try to capitalise on their strong form against Scotland after a convincing win over Afghanistan.

With India remaining in fourth place in Group 2, they will need New Zealand to make a mistake in order to qualify for the knockout stages. To qualify for the semi-finals, India will require New Zealand to lose to either Namibia or Afghanistan.

New Zealand will play Pakistan in the semi-final if they win both of their remaining games. While India will have the potential to improve their NRR against Scotland and Namibia, Afghanistan will have a good chance of making it to the last four even if they win by a tiny margin against New Zealand.

If Afghanistan defeats the Black Caps, all three teams will finish with six points: India, Afghanistan, and New Zealand. In the semi-finals, the team with the best Net Run Rate will advance.
