Deep Dasgupta, a former India wicketkeeper, was dissatisfied with the language employed when expressing his thoughts on the Ashwin-Morgan saga. The on-field brawl between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper and the Delhi Capitals (DC) all-rounder has ignited a controversy among cricket fans, including notable ex-players.
Following the conclusion of the match, Ravichandran Ashwin and Eoin Morgan both voiced their thoughts on the situation. Dasgupta believes the term “spirit of cricket” is rather broad, making it difficult to define.
Dasgupta is more concerned with the events that have unfolded since the incident than with the occurrence itself. While he has no objection to someone expressing their disapproval of something, he believes the proper words must be utilized in doing so.

“My opinion can be different and I may disagree with Ashwin, and that is fine. But the words that have been used so far like ‘disgrace’ and ‘ashamed,’ are very harsh words. These are extremely, extremely harsh words. If there is only disagreement, better words could have been used.” Dasgupta said
“Just because your thoughts are different and mine are different from yours, does not mean words like these are used. Especially from influential people and role models in cricket. Fewl weird hearing things like these from them.” he added
Ravichandran Ashwin
According to Ashwin, the opposition captain labeled him a “disgrace,” while Shane Warne used the words “ashamed” and “disgraced” to describe Ashwin’s behavior.
The event follows a string of tense on-field confrontations in past editions. There should be no problem, according to Dasgupta, as long as the spirit of the game is maintained legitimately.
“What I think is that the rules of the game is a line, and the spirit of the cricket can be drawn anywhere inside the line, depends on you. The line is a barrier, as long as it is being drawn inside of it, there should not be an issue,” he added
While Ashwin had the final laugh by scalping Morgan for a duck, it was KKR who won the game and postponed DC’s playoff qualification.
