India against West Indies: How Suryakumar Yadav and Venkatesh Iyer Led India to a 15-Year T20I Record
In the T20I series, India thrashed the visiting West Indies 3-0 under Rohit Sharma’s leadership. The Indian team won the last match at Eden Gardens by 17 runs after two fantastic victories. When asked to bat first, a relatively youthful India team showed; amazing maturity and control in the face of a spirited visiting bowling attack. Despite losing Ruturaj Gaikwad early in the innings; India put together important partnerships to score a total of 184/5 in 20 overs. Team India also set a new high in T20Is as a result of Suryakumar Yadav; and Venkatesh Iyer’s excellent batting performance in the death overs.
India were 98/4 after 15 overs, with Suryakumar and Iyer at the crease. Both hitters, though, went on a tear, smashing 86 runs off the final 30 balls to set; a new record for the highest runs scored by an Indian team in the final five overs of a T20 international.

India surpassed their previous best of 80 runs, which they scored in the final five overs; of their innings against England in the inaugural T20 World Cup in Durban in 2007.
Apart from the top two, India has scored the most runs in the last five overs; of a T20I game with 77, 75, and 74.

The duo’s heroic effort provided the perfect cushion for the bowlers to fall back; on as they easily defended the mark.
With three wickets, Harshal Patel shone with the ball, while Deepak Chahar, Venkatesh Iyer; and Shardul Thakur each contributed two wickets to help India win the game and sweep the series 3-0.
