Peng Shuai, a Chinese tennis star, told a French newspaper that international worry; for her safety stems from “a massive misunderstanding,” and she denied accusing a Chinese official of sexual assault.
The interview was release Monday by L’Equipe, a sports news publication. The tennis player was interviewed for an hour; by China’s Olympic committee a day earlier in a Beijing hotel, according to the publication.
Peng had dinner with IOC President Thomas Bach on Saturday; and she attended the China-Norway curling match with IOC member Kirsty Coventry; according to a statement released by the International Olympic Committee on Monday.
According to the newspaper, questions had to be submitted ahead of time; and a Chinese Olympic committee representative sat in on the conversation and translated her remarks from Chinese.
The newspaper publish her comments in question-and-answer format, which it claim was another pre-condition for an interview.
Peng addressed by L’Equipe around a post she made in November on her confirmed account on Weibo; a prevalent Chinese social media stage, that started worldwide concern almost her. Peng said in that post that Zhang Gaoli; a previous bad habit chief and part of China’s administering Communist Party’s all-powerful Politburo Standing Committee; had constrained her to have sex in spite of her rehashed refusals.

She moreover expressed in her article that they had intercut seven a long time prior; which she had sentiments for him after that.
Peng vanished from public eye for a short time before reappearing at government-sponsored promotional events. Since the charge, the interview with L’Equipe was her first sit-down interview with non-Chinese media.
However, in an interview with L’Equipe, Peng denied accusing Zhang of assault.
“Do you mean sexual assault?” “I never said anyone forced me to submit to a sexual assault,” she told the publication.
