Wasim Jaffer has called for the return of India’s yellow jersey from the 90s in sides winning trophies this season

Wasim Jaffer, a former Indian opener, has urged for the yellow jersey used by India in the 1990s to be reinstated, citing the fact that it has been worn by teams that have won trophies this season.

In T20 cricket, teams wearing yellow jerseys have won multi-team competitions in the recent two months.

It all started with the Chennai Super Kings, who won their fourth IPL trophy last month after defeating Kolkata Knight Riders in the final.

The Australian squad pulled off a heist against the odds earlier this month, winning their first Men’s T20 World Cup victory at the expense of New Zealand.

Tamil Nadu, another yellow-shirted team, overcame Karnataka in a nail-biter to win the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy for the third time this week.

Tendulkar achieved his first century in one-day international cricket at this competition. On September 9, 1994, he faced his favorite opponent, Australia.

In Tendulkar’s ODI career, the year 1994 will be recognized as a turning point. The Master had made his debut in the format as an opener against New Zealand earlier that year. Wasim Jaffer

Six months later, he thrashed Australia to all four corners of the Premadasa Stadium for his first century in the format. He hit eight fours and a handful of sixes on his way to a 130-ball 110.

India ended up scoring 246/8 and winning the game by 36 runs.

Yellow in Indian jerseys was a typical occurrence until the early 2000s, but it has all but vanished during the last 15 years or so.
