Former India batter Wasim Jaffer shared a humorous meme starring Indian captain Virat Kohli and New Zealand captain Kane Williamson. Williamson is seen in the meme asking Kohli for throw advice!
In international cricket, the Indian skipper has had a string of bad luck with throws. During India’s T20 World Cup 2021 matches against Pakistan and New Zealand, he lost both tosses. As a result, India was forced to bat first in both key games under difficult batting conditions, and they lost both. Ultimately, India’s two losses lost them a berth in the semi-finals.
In the T20 World Cup 2021, the toss will play an important role. Due to the dew impact in the second half, teams winning the toss have decided to chase, while teams batting second have won the bulk of the matches.
On Saturday, Jaffer tweeted the amusing Kohli-Williamson meme on Twitter, accompanied with a “grinning face with sweat” emoji. Kohli and Williamson have a great deal of respect for one another.
Many people praised their heartfelt hug at the end of the World Test Championship (WTC) final. After New Zealand defeated India in their T20 World Cup 2021 group match, Williamson consoled Kohli.
Former India batsman VVS Laxman acknowledged that the toss will be crucial in the T20 World Cup in 2021. He did point out, though, that one quick passage of play decided both semi-finals.
Aaron Finch
“There was a touch of similarity to the way the two last-four clashes played out. First Kane Williamson and then Aaron Finch hit it lucky with the coin. Those were significant off-field developments, for this tournament has favoured teams chasing. The toss, however, is only one component; it doesn’t guarantee success. In T20 cricket, it’s not even the team that plays better on the day that comes up trumps. It often boils down to a short, sharp passage of play.” Laxman wrote
Laxman remarked that there isn’t much that separates Australia and New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2021 final.
“There is little to choose between the two finalists, with Australia having the slight edge following the freak injury to Devon Conway. But as history will testify, New Zealand is a side than can be taken lightly at one’s own peril.” he said
On Sunday, Australia will face New Zealand in the final of the T20 World Cup 2021 in Dubai. Both teams are vying for their first ICC championship.
