When asked to respond to a question in Hindi, New Zealand leg-spinner Ish Sodhi came up with a humorous response.
Ish Sodhi was asked about adapting to the circumstances and bowling in different innings of a game during the post-T20 World Cup 2021 news conference between India and New Zealand.
The journalist who posed the question wryly added that Ish Sodhi should respond in Hindi. Ish was born in Ludhiana, Punjab, before moving to New Zealand with his family when he was four years old.
“My Hindi is gonna be tested here, sir. I think if my mum is watching this. If I say something slightly wrong, she would give me a hard time about it. So, I will answer in English this time around but hopefully, I can develop my Hindi better.” Ish Sodhi
“I think adapting to conditions is a big thing we speak about a lot. We had to judge by the last couple of games played at Dubai stadium and with the bubble life. You have a chance to look at the conditions, come and see the ground before you actually get a chance to play. Today was the first time we ventured into this ground. So a lot of our understanding has been from watching other games.” he added

Ish Sodhi was outstanding with the ball in the game against India, earning the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his 4-0-17-2 numbers. In this match, the 29-year-old claimed the valuable scalps of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, thus sending India into deep waters.
New Zealand restricted India to a mere 110 runs because to Trent Boult’s three-wicket haul and clinical performances from the other bowlers. The Kiwis completed the chase in just 14.3 overs, delivering India their second straight loss in the competition while claiming their first triumph.
India is now in fifth place on the Group 2 points table, with Kane Williamson and his team in third place.
