Trevor Bayliss, a former England head coach, believes the forthcoming match between England and Australia would be exciting to watch. For the first time since the 2010 edition’s finale, the arch-rivals will face off in the T20 World Cup.
England, according to Bayliss, has already found its stride and appears to be settled in its approach. The coach believes that they have been able to accomplish it so rapidly because they have been playing consistent cricket for some time.
“England has looked terrific so far — and part of that might be because they have played significantly more cricket than all the other teams during the pandemic,” Bayliss said
“They are match-hardened and it is one thing they have over Australia who is still trying to find their feet. The bulk of their players have hardly played in the last few months,” he added
The winner of the match will have a major edge in terms of qualifying for the semifinals, as both clubs have won their first two games.
Bayliss stressed the significance of peaking and winning at the proper time, and he expects Australia to follow suit. With challenging games against England, the West Indies, and Bangladesh on the horizon, the Australians must pick up the pace quickly.
“Australia will know the most important time to play your best cricket is at the end of a tournament, not the beginning, and they have had a welcome habit over the years of always seeming to find a way at these big competitions,” Bayliss added
Glenn Maxwell
“It is no coincidence that two of the players who stood out for Australia in their opening victory over South Africa, Josh Hazlewood and Glenn Maxwell, both played a full part in the recent IPL. It means they haven’t come into this tournament cold” Bayliss explained
Last night, Australia defeated Sri Lanka by an 8-wicket margin. They had a lot of positives, with the resurgence of the openers possibly being the most important.
