Rohit Sharma says “I saw Yuvi turning around, he thought Sreesanth was going to drop it” in T20 World Cup 2021

In the last over of India’s triumph in the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007, Rohit Sharma described the events that transpired. Yuvraj Singh had looked the other way, terrified to look up in case S Sreesanth dropped the catch, he remembered.

When Misbah-ul-Haq attempted to sweep the ball over short fine leg. From Joginder Sharma’s bowling, six runs required off the final four deliveries. Sreesanth finished the catch on the edge of the circle to give India their first T20 World Cup victory.

“I was standing at covers that particular ball. Yuvi was at the point. The moment Misbah played that shot, I saw Yuvi turning around. He was not watching because he thought he was going to drop it,” Rohit Sharma said.

Sreesanth would not have faced as much strain in his life. As he would have when the ball is thrown at him, according to the Indian vice-captain.

“I was praying that just catch it. He didn’t have to move much. It was just there. He just moved two, three steps back and took it. It was the most pressure catch that he must have taken in his life.” he said
