Kane Williamson, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain, praised Umran Malik’s ability to routinely hit 90 mph in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Kane Williamson cited Umran Malik as a positive after SRH’s latest loss, this time to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
The 21-year-old Jammu & Kashmir pacer failed to take a wicket, but he did trouble Shubman Gill and Nitish Rana by touching 150 kph on a slow surface.
“We have been facing him in the nets, and it’s quite something special. He’s got quite a lot of pace. For a young guy, he runs in and bowls fast. It’s amazing for him to get a chance tonight. He has been bowling in our nets for a couple of seasons now. It was a special occasion for him, and what a talent!” said Kane Williamson after the match.
Umran Malik
Umran Malik, who is yet to play first-class cricket, made his List A and T20 debuts for Jammu & Kashmir earlier this year. On his T20 debut against the Railways, he impressed with the ball, taking three for 24 from four overs. In his List A debut against Bengal, he was thrashed for 98 runs off his ten overs.
SRH made a match of the match by taking it deep in the penultimate over, albeit limping to 115. SRH hitting has failed to find the correct score throughout the season, according to Kane Williamson.
“I think if we got closer to the 150-mark, might have been par. We had our chances to strangle the scoring, but it was always tough with such a low score. It has been a challenge for us as a batting unit to try and identify the right score all season. We need to go back to the drawing board and look for improvement. he said
