Former Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner was in the stands in Dubai cheering on the Orange Army against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Notably, the former IPL champion skipper did not attend the Sunrisers’ past two matches. After being withdrawn from the starting XI after their match. Against the Punjab Kings on September 25, the southpaw made his first appearance in the arena.
Surprisingly, the champion opener was dressed in the team’s uniform and carrying their flag with zeal. He even shared a selfie with Virat Singh and Veer Pratap Singh, his teammates.
During the 14th season of the IPL, Warner’s relationship with the Sunrisers Hyderabad came crashing down.
The seeds were laid during the Indian leg when the run-machine captain. For the first time since 2014, began to seem like a regular mortal.
Warner was a run generator for the Sunrisers for six seasons in a row. Not only did he hit 500+ runs every season. But he did so at such a blistering rate and with such consistency that his frail underbelly was hidden. The rest was handled by their talented bowlers.
Warner has struggled to score runs this year, and when he does. As he did in the game against CSK in Delhi (57 off 55 balls). It is to the benefit of the opposition rather than his own club.
Kane Williamson
Because SRH was on a losing streak and had a proven leader in Kane Williamson on hand. The management made a desperate decision to relieve him of his leadership responsibilities.
It didn’t end there, though. They went one step farther and left the opener out of the starting lineup. Everyone involved was taken aback by the move, and rumors about a possible breach between management and Warner began to circulate on social media.
