Lanse Klusener takes pride in balance between bat and ball at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. “So I think we need to make sure that we are not comparing our stadium to other stadiums,” Klusener said in a statement.
So far in the Indian Premier League 2024, 26 clubs have scored 200 or more runs in 44 matches. However, no big totals have been recorded at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium, but some may argue that the Rajasthan Royals scored 197 runs against LSG on the same field.
Nonetheless, this season, Ekana has had lesser totals than other sites. Lance Klusener, LSG’s assistant coach, revealed why there haven’t been absurdly high totals at Ekana Stadium.
Klusener discussed the various surfaces and conditions that are offered in the IPL stadiums. This season, Ekana—which is renowned for its slow track—has not recorded a single 200-plus total. The highest score to date was achieved by LSG against PBKS, with a score of 199. Klusener did not want to draw comparisons between the Lucknow stadium and other fields that appear to be absolute belters and where the ball has hit the bat nicely.
“I think we just need to be careful when putting a figure on because the pitches, stadia, and conditions vary everywhere. We haven’t seen such high scores here (Ekana Stadium). So, I believe we ought to avoid comparing our stadium to other stadiums. Klusener told India Today, “I think that is important.”

We are doing a lot of good stuff but in patches: Klusener
LSG had made an impressive comeback after losing two consecutive matches. They defeated CSK in their last match, including at Chennai’s home ground. However, RR had a comfortable win by seven wickets against Lucknow. Klusener discussed the team’s loss against RR and acknowledged that they have been inconsistent throughout the tournament so far.
“But I think you should be more clinical. To win the IPL, clubs must excel at fielding, batting, and bowling. We’re doing a lot of nice stuff, but in patches, and we need to get further into the competition,” Klusener said.
