Ebadot Hossain ruled out of T20 World Cup due to injury. Debashish Chowdhury, Bangladesh Cricket Board’s chief physician, confirmed Ebadot’s absence on April 10.
Bangladesh has suffered a significant setback as their star bowler Ebadot Hossain has been ruled out of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. Ebadot has been deemed unfit and will miss the flight to the United States and the West Indies in June. He had previously hinted at a quick recovery just before the tournament, and he hoped to represent Bangladesh at the global event.
The pacer collided with an umpire during Bangladesh’s home series against Afghanistan in July 2023. As a result, he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury and required surgery. Debashish Chowdhury, Bangladesh Cricket Board’s chief physician, confirmed Ebadot’s absence on April 10. Debashish quashed any hopes of the right-arm pacer returning before the T20 World Cup.
“No way (Ebadot will make a comeback before the World T20).” We’re not even thinking about it. It does not happen in that time frame (prior to the World Cup). It takes eight to twelve months, but you must have at least ten months. He underwent surgery in December, so he won’t be able to return until at least October. “He can make a comeback earlier, but not in the World T20,” Debashish said, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Bangladesh running out of time with key players injured
Aside from Ebadot, two more Bangladesh players have been injured in the lead-up to the main event. Soumya Sarkar and Taijul Islam have spent a significant amount of time away from the field. Soumya injured his knee as he collided with an advertising board during an ODI against Sri Lanka. Taijul, on the other hand, suffered a knee injury in the first Test against Sri Lanka. However, Debashish is optimistic that gamers will return on time as the event clock ticks.
Taijul also suffered a knee injury, but he continued to play. He was injured while fielding in the first Test, so rehabilitation is critical, and the cases of Soumya and Taijul are very similar. The time frame is quite close because both injuries occurred within one week. They will take some time to recover, which is making things difficult for us because we are short on time. I believe both will be fine (before the Zimbabwe series), but we are unsure of the time frame required to get fully fit,” he added.
